CALL FOR WORKSHOP PROPOSALS

2008 Annual Conference

 

April 2-4, 2008

The Arkansas Chapter-NASW invites you to submit a proposal for a workshop to be presented at its 2008 Annual Conference. The theme for the conference is Unity Makes Us Stronger. Topics may address any aspect of professional social work practice, practitioners or the social work profession. Presentations in the following areas are encouraged: values and ethics, mental health, aging, medical, children/families, program/community development or self care. We also are seeking workshops that present advanced or specialized material. There will be time slots available for 1 1/2 hour and 3 hour presentations.

REVIEW PROCESS

A panel of volunteer readers will evaluate each proposal. Criteria include relevance to social work practice, presentation of innovative methods or models, use of unbiased language, integration of social work values and ethics, and clarity of content.

SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS

Abstracts should consist of two typed pages only.

Page one should include:

1. Presentation title (10 words maximum)

2. Description of presentation for conference program, if selected (50 works maximum)

3. Information on each author (maximum of four): full name; highest academic degree; ACSW and/or NASW

credentials if applicable; one job title only; agency name; full address; daytime phone numbers.

All NASW communications will go to the first author who must convey information to coauthors.

4. Enrollment limit (if applicable)

5. Audio/visual needs (if any, limited to one each of the following: microphone, flip chart, overhead, screen, VCR,

there will be limited availability of a power point projector )

Rental fees of any other audio/visual equipment are the responsibility of the presenters.

6.Time slot needed (1 1/2 hour or 3 hour)

Page two should include:

1. Presentation title

2. An outline of content and objectives, including a description of format (lecture, group activities, etc.)

3. Page two must not contain any information that identifies the authors

Submit 2 copies of the workshop proposal. Submissions not conforming to these instructions will not be considered.

DEADLINE

Abstracts must be received in the AR/NASW Chapter office by 5 p.m., October 31, 2007. Notification of acceptance will be sent by December 15, 2007.
